Deciding where you are going to attend college is a pretty big deal. Choosing a college is a big thing to think about and sometimes is a really hard decision. Everyone has their own specifications when it comes to what they want in a college. You may be wanting to go specifically for engineering, nursing, becoming a teacher, or maybe even to play a sport. Whatever your reason for attending college is, the options are endless. Sports open many opportunities for international students to come to the United States for College.
Ohio State University is a college located in Columbus, Ohio, and has a vast number of sports to choose from. Whether the international students are coming for sports or not, the number of international students is high. Out of 61,170 students and 46,820 of them being undergraduates, there are 6,731 international students with 4,025 of them being undergraduates. This equals up to eleven percent of the student popular being international. Out of the entire student body, eight percent of the students are international student-athletes. Throughout their athletes, over 1,000 of them compete in thirty-six NCAA D1 sports and 90 of them are international. Ohio State is very proud of its international athletes. They understand and respect the struggles that these international student-athletes face. They are students coming to a country that is foreign to them while playing a sport and taking classes in a different language than they are used to. Ohio State tries to do what it can to make its school feel like home as much as it can for these students. They celebrate cultural diversity among athletes in hopes to understand each other's backgrounds and make it feel more like a family. The international athletes at Ohio State have just recently started a club where they will be meeting every so often to discuss educational and personal ideas that help this group of student-athletes grow together. The athletic department is very supportive and is arranging guest speakers and providing supplies that the students need to help them be successful in this club. It is very encouraging for prospective students to get to see what they would be walking into if they decided to go to Ohio State, athlete or not. The university does a really good job of keeping its social media up to date along with posting videos of the international student's experiences on youtube.
When it comes to sports in global countries, The University of Melbourne has it covered. This university is located in Melbourne, Australia. The University of Melbourne is ranked number one by individual rankings and thirty-three in the world. There are over 55,000 students that attend this university. Fifty-one percent of the students are undergraduates and forty-nine percent are graduates. Out of the entire student body, forty-one percent of them are international students. There are approximately 155 different nationalities at the University of Melbourne. This university is perfect for athletes and people who just enjoy watching sports. The University of Melbourne has athletes that have competed in over 150 events in the Olympic Games. The athletes at global universities are looked at as more elite athletes who are usually there to practice for the Olympics. Yes, they still get scholarships just like every other athlete they just compete at a higher level. At Melbourne, even if you aren't an elite athlete, you are still encouraged to get involved with sports at the college. They provide many clubs for these students to be able to enter competitions with other schools. A section of their sports website, it states, "At MU Sports we believe that all students, staff, and local community members should access our sport and fitness services to fully enjoy the health and wellness benefits our services can provide. Everyone is welcome here, and we are actively working to provide a friendly and inclusive sports environment for all to enjoy." The University of Melbourne does a good job of staying up to date on its social media accounts. Navigating its websites can be a little difficult just because there is not much information there. MU has a great campus is good at recruiting internationally whether you are choosing to play a sport or not.
Obviously, Ohio State University and The University of Melbourne are on two different sides of the world but they both have the same goal in mind. Both universities have so much to offer when it comes to international students and doing what they can in the recruiting process to get the students to come to join their universities. Athletics play such a large role in student recruitment when it comes to international students. Many opportunities are given to international students when they move out of their comfort zones and colleges like OSU and MU are making this as enjoyable as possible for these students.

You see this a lot when celebrities or someone with high authority either say or share something that is not accepted by a mass group of people or they do something to make a lot of people angry, people will continuously bash them on the internet until they are canceled for lack of better words. This can happen in school settings. All it takes is one person to mess up for that mistake to spread around the entire school and now you have the whole school against them. You have to be careful how you voice your opinions and you also have to be careful what you say because someone out there is looking for any way to run your name into the ground.
